Amnon Rubinstein, a journalist and a Law scholar, was born in Tel-Aviv in 1931. He studied economics, international relations and law at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, became a member of the Israel Bar in 1963 and received a Ph.D. in law from the London School of Economics in 1966. Academics: Rubinstein served as a professor of law at Tel-Aviv University (1961-75) and Dean of the Law Faculty (1968-73); he was a guest Prof. at Stanford University, Columbia University and many more.
Prof. Rubinstein served as the Dean of the Law Faculty of the Interdisciplinary center (IDC) Herzliya (2002-2006) and as the President of the IDC (2006).
Amnon Rubinstein is an Israel Prize Laureate for Law, 2006.
Politics: Prof. Rubinstein served as chairman of many Parliamentary Committees. He also served as Minister of Communication, Minister of Energy & Infrastructure and Minister of Science & Technology. From 1992-1996 he served as Minister of Education and Culture.
Prof. Rubinstein initiated and legislated the two basic laws that guarantee human rights in Israel.
